Abrasives is an offshoot of the series Too Bright to See. In describing TBTS, I propose that light is as abrasive as it is illuminating. Beginning with that phrase, I began this series with an image of a sanding disk from a 1910 abrasive products catalog. Each of these studies proceeds to dress up the disk in a unique costume, disguising the abrasive properties in a dazzling wardrobe.
