Drag, as an act of disguise and shifting, fluid identity can be applied to abstract forms as easily as a human body. I began with an image of an unremarkable abrasive disk (discovered in a 1936 carborundum products catalog) and dressed it with a kaleidoscopic range of abstract photographs. The labels and drawing were collaged as well
giving each proposed costume a sense of mystery and pleasure. The complete collection was displayed at Queer’D: Works by Contemporary LGBTQ Graphic Designers, an exhibition at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.
